IGA Contest. Aim for the food

Contest Rules

The “Aim for the food” Contest (the “Contest”) will be held at IGA, IGA extra and IGA Coop supermarkets in Quebec and New Brunswick (each a “Participating IGA” and collectively the “Participating IGAs”), listed in Annex A attached, which is an integral part of the regulations, and is organized by Sobeys Capital Inc. (the “Contest Organizer”). The Contest begins on September 22, 2022, at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) and ends on November 2nd, 2022, at your Participating IGA’s closing time or at 11:59 p.m. (ET) (the “Contest Period”), whichever comes first in your region.

1. ELIGIBILITY:

TO BE ELIGIBLE TO ENTER THE CONTEST, you must:

  • Be a resident of Quebec or New Brunswick;
  • Have reached the age of majority in your province of residence at the time of Contest entry (an “Eligible Entrant”).

EXCLUSIONS: The employees, agents and/or representatives of the Contest Organizer, its affiliates, Participating IGAs, non-participating affiliated grocers, IGA influencers and ambassadors, advertising agencies, the Montreal Canadiens, the National Hockey League (NHL), member teams of NHL Enterprises Canada L.P. or any party involved in the administration of the Contest (the “Affiliated Parties”), as well as, respectively, any person with whom an Excluded Entrant is domiciled or any member of their immediate family (each an “Excluded Entrant”). For the purposes of the Contest Rules (the “Rules”), the term “immediate family” includes the father, mother, brother, sister, child, husband, wife or common-law partner of an Excluded Entrant.

For the sake of clarity, an Eligible Entrant who is not an Excluded Entrant is hereinafter referred to as an “Entrant.

Each Entrant must enter exclusively on their own behalf and act for their sole personal benefit.

2. HOW TO ENTER:

NO PURCHASE ENTRY

To enter the Contest without making a purchase, you must write an original handwritten letter of one hundred (100) words or more explaining why you like to shop at your Participating IGA. In the letter, please include your first and last name, mailing address, telephone number, the address of your Participating IGA, and the date; and place the letter in an envelope addressed to the offices of the Contest Organiser, located at 11281 Albert- Hudon Boulevard, Montréal-Nord, QC H1G 3J5, with the name of the contest, Attn: Concours VISE LA BOUFFE / AIM FOR THE FOOD Contest (the “No Purchase Entry”). The No Purchase Entry must be received no later than the last day of the Contest Period. Given the variability of the mail delivery schedule, the time of receipt for an Entry will be determined at the sole discretion of the Contest Organizer.

Limit of one No Purchase Entry per entrant per week. PURCHASE ENTRY

Any purchase of products (at a participating IGA or on the online grocery platform at iga.net or IGA.net, excluding Voila.ca, by selecting a participating IGA) specifically identified as a "Participating Product" for the purposes of the Contest or as set out in these Contest Rules will allow the Participant to enter the Contest. Each Participating Product (each, a "Participating Product") constitutes one entry into the Contest. For example, one (1) Participating Product is equivalent to one (1) entry in the Contest. The purchase of multiple Participating Products in the same transaction will allow the Participant to accumulate the number of Entries related to the products purchased. A display dedicated to the Contest will allow Participants to identify the Participating Products.

Each Participating Product will be listed under the product line on the cash register receipt that will be given to all Participants with a purchase at a participating IGA or delivered to all Participants with an online purchase, your receipt will be required to complete the Contest entry.

To enter the Contest, visit www.igaaimforthefoodcontest.ca (the “Website”) on your mobile device or computer with internet access and follow the on-screen instructions to access the official Contest Entry form:

  • To start, you must first register and fill out the official Contest form by completing all required fields: your first and last name, a valid email address, postal code and telephone number and the five item at the bottom of your sales receipt Post / Trans / Store / Operator and Date; you will receive an email confirming the creation of your account and the valid email address associated with the account will be used to identify you - only the actual purchaser of the Participating Products may participate in the Contest,
  • Complete the following steps : indicating whether you wish to receive additional information in connection with upcoming contests or promotional events from Sobeys or third-party partners; confirming that you have read and agree to be legally bound by the terms and conditions of these Rules by submitting your Entry.
  • Check the “I am not a robot” Google CAPTCHA box.

One (1) additional chance is available by signing up for the newsletter (an "Additional Entry").

Limit of one (1) valid email address per account - Limit of one (1) account per Participant.

To be valid, your entry must comply with all the required criteria of the Rules, must be in the designated form of the official Contest Entry form (only available online), and be received during the Contest Period. The Contest Organizer will not receive or accept submissions by any other means (i.e., entries sent by email and regular mail will not be accepted). Any receipts submitted after November 2nd, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. ET will not be eligible for entry. The Contest Organizer will not, under any circumstances, be responsible for late submissions, including delays caused by technical issues with the website or the means for submitting a receipt.

Each valid entry is an “Entry”.

No Purchase Entries, Purchase Entries and the Additional Entry are collectively referred to as “Entries.”

3. PRIZES:

Total of three hundred and three (303) prizes with an approximate total value of three hundred and forty-four thousand seven hundred ($344,700) as defined in the rules.

GRAND PRIZE

There are three (3) Grand Prizes available to be won in the Contest (“Grand Prize” individually and “Grand Prizes” collectively). Each Grand Prize has a retail value of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000 CAD) and consists of twelve thousand five hundred dollars ($12,500 CAD) cash and twelve thousand five hundred dollars ($12,500 CAD) worth of gift cards.

Gift cards have no value until activated. Gift cards are valid at participating IGA and IGA extra stores across Canada. Gift cards may be used for purchases of any item in store, unless prohibited by law.

Gift cards have no expiry date and are not subject to inactivity fees or other charges. You can check your card balance in store or by calling 1-800-832-0717. Protect gift cards like cash. The value remaining on the card cannot be replaced if the card is lost, stolen, damaged or used without your consent. Gift cards cannot be redeemed for cash except in Quebec where provincial laws state that when the balance on a card is less than $5, the customer must be refunded in cash if they so request.

If a customer returns an item purchased with a gift card, the value of the purchase will be refunded to the
customer’s gift card unless the amount is less than $5, in which case the customer is refunded in cash. For more information, please visit https://www.iga.net/en/at_your_service/gift_cards.

All terms and conditions of the gift card apply to this portion of the prize. [Gift cards may range in value from five dollars ($5) to five hundred dollars ($500). The amount of the gift card denominations will be at the sole discretion of the Contest Organizer.

Each of the Grand Prizes also includes attendance at the Canadiens game at the Bell Centre in November (date to be determined at the sole discretion of the Contest Sponsor), an evening of celebration at the Bell Centre (the “Evening of Celebration”) for the winner and one (1) guest including:

  • Two (2) tickets to the Montreal Canadiens game at the Bell Centre on the Evening of Celebration in November for the winner and one (1) guest, i.e., one ticket for each person;
  • A dining experience, meal and beverages served in the Bell Centre suite during the Evening of Celebration. Meal and beverage selection will be at the sole discretion of the Contest Sponsor;
  • One thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500) in spending money for the winner and his/her guest.
  • a shopping experience in the Tricolore Sport boutique with a Tricolore Sport gift card worth five hundred dollars ($500)

SECONDARY PRIZES

There are three hundred (300) Secondary Prizes available to be won in the Contest (the "Secondary Prizes"). Each Secondary Prize has a retail value of eight hundred and fifty-nine dollars ($859 CAD) and consists of one fatbike from each participating IGA.

The Grand Prize and Secondary Prizes are collectively referred to as the “Prize” or the “Prizes.”

PRIZE NOTES

GENERAL INFORMATION. The Prizes may not be identical to photos and images used in advertising and promotional materials for the Contest, including print advertisements, websites, and electronic banner advertising. Each Prize must be accepted (i) “AS IS” WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, either express or implied, and (ii) may not be modified, transferred, assigned, or exchanged for cash (unless expressly authorized by the Contest Sponsor at its sole discretion). The Prize will be awarded only to the individual whose full name appears on the Collector Account associated with the Entry in question. No substitution of a Prize will be possible except at the discretion of the Contest Sponsor. The Contest Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to substitute any Prize or portion thereof with another prize of equal or greater value, including, at the sole discretion of the Contest Sponsor, IGA gift cards.

4. DRAW AND AWARDING OF PRIZES

Draws will take place at the head office of the Contest Organizer, located at 11281, boulevard Albert-Hudon, Montréal-Nord au Québec, H1G 3J5 on November 18, 2022 at approximately 10:00 a.m.ET.

The main draw (the “Main Draw”) will select electronically and randomly three (3) entrants for the Grand Prize (“Entrant Selected for a Grand Prize”) among all Entries collected or sent and received during the Contest Period, in accordance with these Rules.

Each Secondary Prize Draw will electronically and randomly select one (1) entrant per participating IGA store for the Secondary Prizes (only the "Secondary Prize Selected Entrant"; collectively, the "Secondary Prize Selected Entrants") from among all Entries collected or submitted and received during the Contest Period in accordance with these Rules.

Entrants Selected for a Grand Prize and Entrants Selected for a Secondary Prize are collectively defined as a “Selected Entrant.”

For the purposes of these Rules, the Secondary Prize Draw and the Main Draw are collectively defined as the “Draws.”

Limit of one (1) Prize per Selected Entrant.

CONTACTING SELECTED ENTRANTS

The Contest Organizer, its representative, or the owner or representative of the Participating IGA where the Entrant’s Entry was selected will make at least two (2) attempts to contact selected Entrants within eleven (10) business days of the draw by telephone or email using the contact details they provided when creating their account at igafeedthedreamcontest.ca.

Each Entrant is responsible for ensuring that their information is correct. The Contest Organizer cannot be held liable for invalid or inaccurate telephone numbers.

Each Selected Entrant will have twenty-four (24) hours from the time of initial contact to call the Contest Organizer or its representative back, failing which she/he will be disqualified. Once contacted by telephone or email, the Selected Entrant will receive a Release Form (the “Release Form”) at the email address provided when creating their account at igafeedthedreamcontest.ca. Response time will be determined solely by the Contest Organizer’s clock.

BEFORE BEING CONFIRMED AS A WINNER, the Selected Entrant must:

  • correctly answer, without mechanical or other assistance, a mathematical skill-testing question arithmetic question;
  • duly complete and sign the Release Form in connection with the Prize, and must return the Release Form within twenty-four (24) hours of receiving the Release Form, all according to the instructions provided by the Contest Organizer;
  • consent to the publication, reproduction or other use of his/her name, address, voice, image, statements in connection with the Contest, as well as any photographs, videos, footage and/or filming, by or on behalf of the Contest Organizer for publicity or other promotional or commercial use by or on behalf of the Contest Organizer in any existing or future media, including print, radio, television and the Internet, all without further notice, additional compensation, or right of review by the Contest Organizer
  • upon request, provide photo identification.

If it is impossible to contact the Selected Entrant as described in the “CONTACTING SELECTED ENTRANTS” section, if the Selected Entrant a) incorrectly answers the mathematical skill-testing question, b) fails to return the duly completed and signed Release Form within the prescribed period, c) fails to accept (or refuses to accept) the Prize as awarded for any reason, and/or d) is found to have violated these Rules (as determined by the Contest Organizer at its sole discretion), they will be disqualified (and will forfeit the Prize) and the Contest Organizer reserves the right, at its sole discretion and if time permits, to electronically and randomly select a new Entrant from the remaining Entries to the respective Draws (in which case the provisions of this paragraph will apply to the new Selected Entrant).

ODDS OF WINNING

For Draws, the odds of winning depend on the number of Draw Entries collected or sent and received during the Contest Period, in accordance with these Rules.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

All Entries become the property of the Contest Organizer.

The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. The decisions of the Contest Organizer are final and binding in all matters related to this Contest, including any decision on the validity or disqualification of Entries or Entrants. By entering this Contest, you agree to be legally bound by the terms and conditions of these Rules. ANYONE FOUND TO HAVE VIOLATED THESE RULES FOR ANY REASON MAY BE SUBJECT TO DISQUALIFICATION AT THE SOLE AND ABSOLUTE DISCRETION OF THE CONTEST ORGANIZER AT ANY TIME.

By participating in the Contest, you agree to release and hold harmless the Contest Sponsor, Affiliated Parties, LoyaltyOne Co., the Montreal Canadiens, the National Hockey League (NHL), member teams of NHL Enterprises Canada L.P., as well as their respective affiliates, officers, directors, employees, brokers, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively, the “Releasees”)i) your Entry in the Contest; ii) any failure of a website during the Contest, iii) any problem or technical failure related to telephone lines or networks, online computer systems, servers, access providers, or computer equipment or software; iv) any fraudulent call; v) any delay or inability to act as a result of any event or situation beyond the control of the Releasees including, but not limited to, a strike, lockout or any other labour dispute, vi) any Entry not received for any reason, including due to technical problems or an Internet network or website overload, vii) any damage to the computer or any other device belonging to the Entrant or to a third party as a result of Entry in the Contest; viii) the awarding, use or misuse of any Prize or portion thereof, ix) any Prize lost or damaged during transport and shipping, x) any situation that may limit or prevent any person from reading the entry rules and xi) any combination of the foregoing.

Furthermore, by accepting a Prize, the winner, if applicable, releases the Releasees from any liability, obligation, claim, suit, charge or any other claim for damages, regardless of the cause, arising from or related to participation in the Contest or acceptance or use of a Prize, including, but not limited to, and subject to any limits required by law, in the event of injury, death, damage or loss of property. Upon acceptance of the Prize, the obligations relating to it are the responsibility of the service providers and the Releasees are fully released from all liability.

The Contest Organizer reserves the right, subject only to the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (the “Régie”) in Quebec, to withdraw, amend or suspend this Contest (or to amend these Rules) in any way, in the event of an error, technical problem, computer virus, bug, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure or any other cause. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest (at the Contest Organizer’s sole discretion) is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, the Contest Organizer reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Contest Organizer, with the consent of the Régie, reserves the right to cancel, modify or suspend this Contest, or to amend these Rules in any way, in the event of any accident, printing error, administrative error or other error of any kind, or for any other reason, without prior notice or obligation. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Contest Organizer reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to administer another proficiency test, as it deems appropriate based on the circumstances and/or to comply with applicable law.

The Contest Organizer reserves the right, at its sole and absolute discretion, to change, without notice, the Contest deadline or any of the dates set out in these Rules, to the extent necessary, for purposes of verifying the compliance of any Entrant or Entry in accordance with these Rules, or due to technical problems or under any circumstances that, in the view of the Contest Organizer and at its sole discretion, may affect the proper administration of the Contest in accordance with these Rules, or for any other reason.

Quebec residents: Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a Prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.

By entering this Contest, each Entrant consents to the Contest Organizer, its agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing and using the personal information submitted with their Entry through the information contained in the Entry Form for the sole purpose of administering the Contest and awarding the Prize, including, but not limited to, contacting the Entrant about the Contest and their Entry. You may also receive additional communications from the Contest Organizer and/or third-party partners (if applicable) about their products, services, upcoming contests and promotional offers if you consent to receive such communications on the Contest Website. You may, at any time during or after the Contest, withdraw your consent to receive additional communications by following the unsubscribe instructions included in these communications. These Contest Rules can be found at www.igaaimforthefoodcontest.ca or at the courtesy or service department of Participating IGAs. The names of the contest winners will be posted on www.igaaimforthefoodcontest.ca no later than sixty (60) days after the Draw Date November, 18 2022, for a minimum period of ten (10) days.

In the event of a discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of the French version of these Rules and any disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest-related materials, including the official Contest Entry Form, the Website, the English version of these Rules and/or television, print or online advertising at the point of sale, the terms and conditions of the French version of these Rules will prevail to the fullest extent permitted by law.

This Contest is not managed or sponsored by iga.net. Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the Contest should be directed to the Contest Organizer and not to iga.net or IGA.net, and its affiliates, directors, officers, agents and employees are not responsible for any claims arising from or related to the Contest Organizer. By participating in this Contest, all Entrants agree to abide by the terms and conditions of use, contracts, other policies and/or guidelines governing the iga.net platform and release the Contest Organizer and any company, corporation, trust or other legal entity controlled by or affiliated with them, their advertising and promotional agencies, and their employees, agents and representatives from any liability for damages they may incur as a result of using this platform.

The sponsor and the administrator are entirely responsible for running and administering each aspect of the Contest, including winner selection and prize distribution.
